Public holidays in Singapore

Public holidays in Singapore accommodate the four major religious groups (Buddhist, Muslim, Hindu, and Christian), as well as some secular holidays such as New Year’s Day. Some festivals such as Lunar New Year span much longer than a single day and businesses owned by specific ethnic groups may be closed in observance.

Be aware that travel may also be affected, so it’s worth doing your research if there are any holidays you want to be around for or any you want to avoid.

So, when is the best time to visit Singapore?

Overall, the best time to travel to Singapore is in February or March. Heat, humidity, and rainfall define the Singapore weather experience all year round, but during either of these months, you’ll have the best chance of enjoying your vacation fully. Most of the places and spots mentioned in this article are available all year round unless you’re looking to attend a specific festival or event.

February and March are better than other ‘dry’ months like June and July because you’ll be able to avoid the haze from fires burning in Sumatra. The summer months also fall within Singapore’s tourism high season, when accommodation will be more difficult to find and more expensive.
