How long have you lived here?

5 years

Describe your city in 3 words.

Safe, Green, Charming.

What is the one thing everyone must see when they get here and why?

The Singapore Botanic Gardens is a UNESCO World Heritage site

Botanic Gardens! Not only is it a UNESCO World Heritage site, but also the first spot I take my friends and family to when visiting. Filled with lush greenery, incredible landscapes and an abundance of wildlife, if you’re a sucker for tropical gardens, this place is unmissable!

What is the most overrated thing about your city and why?

There’s nothing explicitly wrong with Orchard Road- it is a popular retail road with high-end department stores and luxury hotels. However, it’s not somewhere I like to spend weekends as many others do, as it gets way too crowded and is quite lacklustre. There are much nicer places to spend your weekend evenings like Tanjong Pagar!

What is your favourite local dish – describe it to us?

Wanton Mee is my guilty pleasure! It is slices of Char Siew pork served with thin and springy egg noodle and shrimp dumplings. It’s so good!!

Describe your perfect day if you were a tourist?

Morning: Start the day off with breakfast and coffee in Singapore’s hippest neighbourhood, Tiong Bahru. Check out Tiong Bahru’s unique architecture, boutique shops and one of a kind book stores.

Afternoon: Wander around Haji Lane and Kampong Glam and spend an afternoon browsing through hip boutiques and grabbing a quick bite. It’s located in the Arab Quarter where you can also find the beautiful Masjid Sultan Mosque.

Eat at a Hawker centre to enjoy some local cuisine. Some of the best hawker centres to visit are Lau Pa Sat, Old Airport Road Food Centre, Maxwell Road Hawker Centre, Chinatown Complex Food Centre, and Tiong Bahru Food Centre.

Lau Pa Sat hawker centre is always crowded because of the delicious local food

Evening: Catch the unmissable Bohemian Rhapsody Light show at Gardens by the bay for a real-life avatar experience, then head to a rooftop bar & restaurant to enjoy the incredible views of Singapore lit up, in all its glory!
