7 exciting things to do in North Wales this Autumn

North Wales is one of the most beautiful holiday destinations in the UK, and this much is understood by many. However, while it boasts some incredible beaches, charming little villages and exceptional seafood, what is there to keep families and young adventurous couples alike entertained in these colder months?

Why North Wales?

North Wales’ epic landscapes are alive with action and rich, distinct culture. Conwy, Denbighshire, Flintshire, Gwynedd, Wrexham, and Ynys Môn are all part of the North Wales region (the Isle of Anglesey).

The epic landscapes are alive with action and unique culture. Three Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty, three UNESCO World Heritage Sites, and some of the best adventures in the UK can be found here.

North Wales, steeped in history and local lore, and with miles of rugged beaches, is a must-see for both locals and visitors to the UK. The pride of this region’s people is palpable, and with so much to offer, it’s easy to see why.

Visit its beautiful parks

There is never a bad time to visit the gorgeous parks of Wales. There are dozens of famous parks scattered amongst the northern part of the region where you’ll find hundreds of walking trails that range in difficulty from a gentle stroll to a serious hike. We’d recommend Gwydir Forest Park, which surrounds one of the prettiest villages in the country.

Experience the many Autumn events

Autumn is a unique time that sits neatly between the glory days of summer and the toasty nights of winter. It also just so happens to boast Halloween. There are lots of spooky events going on throughout October, such as the Ghosts of Greenfield challenge and the Halloween Trains, either of which will provide something for the whole family to enjoy.

Walk along the amazing beaches

There are many popular holiday homes by the beach in North Wales and they are not only open during the summer months. While you might need to wrap up a little, taking a stroll along the beach in October or November can prove quite invigorating and surprisingly romantic. They are even available to purchase so you can enjoy them all year!

Afternoon tea at Tu Hwnt ir Bont

There’s nothing that says “UK holiday” quite like a spectacular afternoon tea and Tu Hwnt ir Bont Tearoom boasts perhaps the best afternoon tea in the country. Perhaps even the world. It’s a gorgeous little hideaway that’s over 500 years old. It’s not just swimming in history but provides a world-famous Welsh tea with cakes and scones that will make your eyes and mouth water.

Hike up Snowdon

Snowdonia is home to one of the highest mountains in the UK so if you’re into your walking it doesn’t get much better than this. If you’d rather zipline down a mountain than walk up it, meanwhile, the area is also home to the largest zipline in the world and the incredible Bounce Below, which features a series of underground trampoline caves. Yes, it’s as fun as it sounds.

Visit Llangollen in North Wales

Llangollen is perhaps the first part of North Wales many people see and that’s why so many people tend to drive through it. But there are plenty of things to see and do in Llangollen. The steam railway, for example, is always popular with families and the walking path that leads through the western border of Mercia known as “Offa’s Dyke” is truly one of the most majestic walking trails in the UK. It’s also a great place to practice for that hike up Mt Snowden!
