Or check out The Genesis Vegan restaurant, located near Clarke Quay, for pan-Asian delights, such as Korean Bibimbap or the local favourites of Nasi Lemak, Claypot Noodles or “Chicken” Rice.

When you think about what to eat in Singapore, seafood is usually top of the list

There are so many excellent restaurants in Singapore where you can taste fantastic seafood. Momma Kong’s offers a red chilli crab dish that will make your heart sing, while The Boiler brings a local twist to Cajun-style seafood. Momma Kong is closing soon on 31st October, so try that delicious chilli crab soon!

Other fantastic seafood options are dotted around the city with fine dining options such as the Katachi sushi restaurant and the more traditional Chinese-style food of Hua Yu Wee.

More budget-friendly gems such as Uncle Leong Seafood, with 3 locations and Mellben Seafood, home to some of the city’s finest Claypot Crab Bee Hoon, are amongst the best places to eat in Singapore when craving a fish dish.

Best hawker centre street food

Some of the best food in Singapore can be found in food court type places known as hawker centres. The quality of this street food is so outstanding that a few stalls have even attained Michelin Star or Bib Gourmand status.

Hawker Chan is the first street food restaurant in the world to win a coveted star from the Michelin guide, making it almost impossible to get a seat to try his award-winning Hong Kong soya sauce chicken.

But do not despair; at The Chinatown Complex Food Centre, there are plenty of tasty options to try, including Pang’s Satay offering excellent pork satay.

Touted as the original Katong Laksa, you will struggle to find better, but don’t let that stop you from trying! Check out various stalls, restaurants and cafes throughout the city to sample a culinary staple of this corner of Southeast Asia.

Some of the other great places to go include 328 Katong Laksa and Depot Road Zhen Shan Mei Claypot Laksa for some truly tasty dishes.

Clearly, food in Singapore is taken very seriously when such a tiny country has two 3 starred-Michelin restaurants – Odette and Les Amis. Both producing French-style cuisine, are amongst the glittering gems of the food scene here.

The 2 starred options of Shisen Hanten, Shoukouwa and Waku Ghin offer a more Asian-centric flavour while European inspired Zén and Saint Pierre complete the list of double star winners.

As stated earlier, there are also many Bib Gourmand, and other Michelin recommended places to eat in Singapore, so finding fine dining at an affordable price is one of the joys of exploring this country’s food scene.

The choices are almost endless, from more traditional fare, such as the hand-pulled noodles on offer at Niu Zou La Mian, to the stunning Italian options available at Positano Risto.

And, of course, numerous Mamak-style eateries supply hungry diners with roti prata (local Indian cuisine) and teh tarik (‘pulled’ tea), including the Kampong Cafe and Mr Mamak. When you are looking for cheap, filling and tasty food in Singapore, these humble eating shops are hard to beat.
