One of the things that I love most about Cebu is its stunning beaches. With crystal clear waters and powdery white sands, these beaches are the perfect place to relax and unwind. Whether I was lounging on the beach all day or trying my hand at water sports like snorkelling and scuba diving, I always had a great time.

So which beaches in Cebu are the best? That’s a tough question because there are so many amazing options to choose from. Here are a few of my personal favourites:

  • Mactan Island: Located just a short ferry ride from Cebu City, Mactan Island is home to some of the best beaches on the island. I spent a day exploring the island’s many coves and bays, and I was blown away by the crystal clear waters and white sandy beaches. Mactan Island is also a great place to try your hand at water sports like snorkelling and scuba diving, as the island is home to a number of colourful reefs and marine life.
  • Bantayan Island: If you’re looking for a more secluded beach experience, Bantayan Island is the place to go. Located off the northwest coast of Cebu, this island is home to some of the most beautiful beaches in the region. I loved spending my days lounging on the beach or taking a dip in the crystal clear waters. Bantayan Island is also home to a number of small fishing villages, so it’s a great place to get a taste of local life.
  • Moalboal: Located on the southwestern coast of Cebu, Moalboal is home to some of the most breathtaking beaches on the island. The main attraction here is the sardine run, a phenomenon where huge schools of sardines swim just offshore, creating a stunning visual display. I loved snorkelling here and seeing all the colourful fish up close.
  • Oslob: Located on the southeastern coast of Cebu, Oslob is known for its whale shark-watching tours. I had the amazing opportunity to swim with these gentle giants, and it was an experience I’ll never forget. The beaches in Oslob are also beautiful, with crystal clear waters and white sandy shores.

Overall, there are so many amazing beaches to choose from when you travel to Cebu. Whether you’re looking for a secluded hideaway or a beach with a more lively atmosphere, you’re sure to find something that suits your tastes.

In addition to its stunning beaches, Cebu is home to a number of natural wonders that are sure to take your breath away. During my visit to the island, I had the opportunity to explore a few of these amazing places, and they definitely left a lasting impression.

One of the most popular natural attractions in Cebu is Osmeña Peak, the highest peak on the island. Located in the centre of the island, Osmeña Peak stands at 1,000 meters (3,281 feet) above sea level, and the views from the summit are absolutely breathtaking. I hiked to the top of the peak and was treated to panoramic views of the surrounding islands and the Cebu Strait. It was an unforgettable experience.

If you’re more interested in wildlife, then you should definitely travel to Cebu. The island is home to a number of animal sanctuaries and nature reserves. One of the most popular is the Cebu Taoist Cemetery, which is home to a large population of monkeys. I spent a day exploring the cemetery and was amazed by the antics of these playful creatures. I also had the opportunity to visit the Cebu Taoist Cemetery Butterfly Sanctuary, which is home to a variety of colourful butterflies.

Another (not natural) wonder worth checking out is Magellan’s Cross, which is located in the centre of Cebu City. This cross is said to mark the spot where the Portuguese explorer Ferdinand Magellan planted a cross to signify the arrival of Christianity in the Philippines. The cross is housed in a small chapel, and I was struck by the sense of history and reverence that surrounds it.

During my time in Cebu, I had the opportunity to interact with locals in a number of different settings. Whether I was exploring the island’s many temples and churches or sampling the local cuisine, I was always treated with warmth and kindness. One of the things I love most about Cebu is that it feels like a community rather than just a tourist destination. The locals are proud of their culture and are always eager to share it with visitors. Whether you’re chatting with a shopkeeper or taking a tour with a local guide, you’ll feel like you’re a part of the community rather than just an outsider looking in.

In short, the locals of Cebu are one of the things that make this island such a special place. So don’t be afraid to strike up a conversation or ask for directions – the locals are always happy to help. You’ll leave Cebu feeling like you have a whole new set of friends.
